DSC01242
Want to drive with no worries of getting caught for speeding? See beautiful Alpine scenery like Switzerland? Eat some big sausages that you can't find in Singapore?
If it's yes, then this is the trip you want to take. This round trip took us South from Frankfurt to Stuttgart, onwards to Lake Constance (where it borders with Switzerland). Next we turn East to Fussen and head North on the Romantic Route to Wurzburg, before making the final leg West back to Frankfurt. Along the way, we visited Mercedes-Benz Factory, tour the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein and visit countless winery along the Romantic Route.

Singapore to Frankfurt to Stuttgart

Perking up after arriving in Stuttgart from Frankfurt. There are a lot of such small coffee kiosk all over Germany for that instant caffeine. Pick up the rental car from Frankfurt airport if you had a good rest on the night flight. If not, hope on the train from Frankfurt to Stuttgart.

Mercedes-Benz is so established here in Stuttgart that there is a big star on the clock tower of the train station.

Day 2
Stuttgart to Sindelfingen to Stuttgart

The highlight of Stuttgart is a visit to Mercedes-Benz; the factory and museum in Sindelfingen.
Book the factory tour before you fly into Germany so that you are assured of a place in the factory tour conducted throughout the day. You are warned ! the Customer Center in Sindelfingen is stocked full of Mercedes-Benz assessories and toys. A Mercedes-Benz fan will definitely walk out with a lot of money left at the cashier. I came back with 8 model cars and others; simply went wild in there.

Me with the rented A-class (A140)....would love to collect my Mercedes-Benz there and go on a driving holiday before shipping it back

There is a location in front of the customer center for customers who had just collected their cars to pose for pictures. The Collection Center is an impressive tall ceiling, circular hall that will surely fire up the mood of picking up your very own new Mercedes-Benz.

Day 3
Stuttgart to Lindau (Lake Constance)

Lindau is a small island in Lake Constance linked by a bridge to the mainland. It's a cosy small touristy town and really, there are not much to see other than to relax and have coffee. The Swiss Alps can be seen at the opposite side of this big lake on a clear day.

Interesting buildings and signboards abound in Lindau. In fact, there are a lot of interesting signboards in Germany.

Hotel Pension Seerose, Lindau (Lake Constance) is a nice cosy hotel that is conveniently located across a public carpark. Parking is chargeable.

Day 4

Lindau (Lake Constance) to Fussen

This is the place to visit the romantic and fairy tale castle that Disneyland used as an inspiration to design the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
